I'm also intending on going - it looks like its going to be a good event.

I'm interested if people want to form a group - possibly to play a Huscarl....

I could be up for a group, but damned if I'm playing the boss man!!!
A simple Huscarl sounds good to me too!

I'll give it them though, at least this system doesn't screw you for being the leader!

I don't do leadership,

Dave L's up for it too last time I spoke to him.

We do need a boss - but like Mike and Jim it ain't me

Well we could come from a village that has lost it's leadership?!
Maybe we're the last survivors or something? At the Thing to request aid for our village after the loss of our Hersar against raiders or the like?

Or we can do as others and put up on the viking forum for some form of leadership?

If no-one else wants to do it, I could do the noble thing and be the glorious leader.

Does look like that might limit the options for being an armoured thug, and would need a decent quality of costume to look considerably richer than the peasantry Very Happy I'm getting a lot of kit for a differeny system tho - 12thC, so there will be some overlap....

Can we motivate Mr Tony?

...although a group of landless ex-retainers would also be good.

A Viking version of the 47 Ronin? That could be interesting Twisted Evil

Probably won't be going to this one but, may well go to the next. Depends on reprots back from people.

Cheers,
Tim

We could always have someone playing the son/representative of our Hersir?
No need for oaths and stuff, unless someone feels the need for a little status or lineage?

I'm very interested. Have almost zero kit for it tho. Well, do have the armour which could be altered to suit but it probably only fits me (and anyone similarly rake-like) and dependant upon the group concept could be completely implausible. If duty calls I won't mind Lording it. Wink

Big up on the idea of a 47 Ronin-a-like tho!

As Kev said (twice) I three am up for it - in fact I may even volunteer to be the Jarl...

In my opinion, knowing you lot, it'd be safer to go as a proper group with a Jarl and I'd want a lawspeaker along too (huscarl's count for little in a dispute; Jarls and lawspeakers count for more) and probably a Skald as well - nothing wrong with blowing our own trumpets, it could make the world of difference in a protracted dispute.

Our biggest problem won't be with costume (hero pants and linen shirts) but with weapons - as swords are relatively rare in the Viking parts we'll need a few spears, axes and shields to go 'round. Setting up a couple of holmgang practices also wouldn't harm...
