Special Weapons And No Tactics.

But actually, do we have plans for how we handle situations, or are we happy to rock our Motley Crue up to a planet and play it by ear?

The Ship is looking like a fast, sneak-up-and-hit-'em-hard, or run-like-buggery style.

Personal Combat wise, we have a gun bunny. I'm sure Mr Trader can handle himself. My power Axe can cause some up-close damage to armoured foes. Lidless Stare can be nasty, so sounds like we have it covered.

Social/Trading/Politics: Assorted approaches. Don't know how strong. Personally, I've ditched Fellowship, and I think Chris will, too. Where are our strengths?

Investigation/intel: Assorted specialities, but no Senechal means no "detective" character. How do we learn the Plot, and our place in it?
Noviate Robertus can do some sneaky spying.

Tech: Tech-Priest, mainly, with Trader back-up. Can't ask for much more, really.

Ancient/Forbidden/Xeno Lore: Assorted. Might be an idea to check our overlaps/gaps.

I will be getting whispers which is good info gathering

Fel wise I am very good - although not quite as specialised in that area as Phil is at tech or Steve at guns. Andy with his noble talkie stuff if a good enough backup.

Lore wise we could maybe get a library for our ship in place if the choir. +10 to all lore skills I believe when on ship.

Lore covered by me are legends, archeotech, xeno, some rogue trader common/scolastics, and pirates at lvl 2. So quite alot by me.......

Does andy have scrutiny?

Sensors require scrutiny skill + high perception.

I can do some of the Scenechal stuff. Mostly the sneaky, stalk/Hide stuff and some pickpockets. Backed up with Scrutiny and Awareness I think that'll have to do.

Woody can handle most of Scenechals Trade/ Talky roles.

Which leaves the Inquiry/Logic/Ciphers group. I think we may need to see what the Tech Preist can do about that.

As to tactics!

I think we're best suited to walking up poking some hornets nests, eyeing up some profit, making a grab for the jewels and then shooting our way out afterwards.

ie What we usually do!

Really depends upon what Flossy throws at us. If its simple enough for us to bone out the plot details then we should do ok. We're got a lot of reactive power to bring to bear at just about anything.

If it's complex and involves Cipher work, then we're screwed and we may have to revert to shoot and loot.

No it's a rank 6 ability for Navigators (which seems a bit odd).

Logic I can do.
Inquiry? Sounds too much like talking to people.
Ciphers are not on my Rank chart. Sad

I do Awareness, Tech-Use, Tech-Make, Archeotech, Tech-Talk, a bit of Ad-Mech and some more Tech. (and can hit people with my Power Axe)
I do a Little Bio-Tech (Lore: Beasts. hope to pick up more through Rank 3 Genetor).

I can do roguen trader ciphers. Basically apart from disguise and underworld ciphers I think we have pretty much full coverage

So it looks like our 1st couple of sessions of XP will be filling in our gaps.

I don't know if anyone else has looked, but I am struggling to spend my Rank 1 XP! Apart from Sound Constitution (+1 W), stats, and Mechadendrite Utility Use (No use if I don't have the Implant!), I can spend about 1200 out of 2000 pts!
(and no, you can't save them to next Rank. Rank is based on spent XP, not earned Sad )

I could spend 700xp just on getting my character started with the basic skills I think he should have.

One word - stats

By the looks of things after rank 1 xp is tight, and stats wont move often after you hit 2

Noviate Robertus will probably be taking some skill that helps him with scout/spy/recon type stuff. With an Auger/Sensor, he can be very good at short-mid range, and even useful at long range, or left somewhere for quite a while. I'm hoping to add a pict-caster to him later, for better results.
Still deciding between Shadowing, Conceal, or something else, but I see his role as Remote Sensor. My Eyes and Ears, only over there ---->

After discussing with Mick/FFG Forum, Astropaths don't do ship-to-ship at low level.
This means he doesn't have to be Transubstantial Initiate. And means he can concentrate on WP, and not have to also pump Perception (needed for Divination).
Does he need Trans.Init? What Telepathy Powers should he have (I think he gets 2x200 xp powers. I'm thinking Mind Probe and Compel are good).

And on another note: Is "We have an Andy for that!" becoming our catchphrase? Wink
