SILENT BIRD

Wednesday 4th May, 1941.
The Manor House Guest Quarters, Messerschmitt Factory & Test Facility, Augsburg, Germany.
Throughout the morning of the 4th mumblings and disturbed one sided conversations can be heard coming from the room of the Deputy Fuhrer.

Gestapo were seen talking with Guards at the steps of the Front Porch to the Manor House. Guards that were moments before searching the darkened Ground Floor.

Early that morning the Deputy Fuhrer's valet, Lt. Zurcher, is found to be staying in a room on the 2nd floor also. A young, trim looking fellow. Well presented. Little to say.

0730hrs, The Manor House Guest Quarters, Messerschmitt Factory & Test Facility, Augsburg, Germany.
Captain Kraemer sends a telegram to Fleischer;

Nancy is asking questions about what you were up to STOP
Be careful STOP
She's quite annoyed STOP

Kraemer used to refer to the Gestapo as "nancy boys". As has been seen already, there are two Gestapo Officers on station at this facility (not an out of the ordinary security practice).

0900hrs, The Deputy Fuhrer's Door, The Manor House Guest Quarters, Messerschmitt Factory & Test Facility, Augsburg, Germany.
Plan was to talk to Hess directly, and try to get an angle as to his state of mind by speaking to him face to face. Fleischer called on one of his special little tricks to try to see the invisible, only thing was he saw just a little too much at one time. Eventually, Fleischer was restrained two flights of stairs, one ripped up uniform and one grappling Abwehr Agent later.
From down the corridor, Lt. Zurcher observed the whole thing.

Shortly after Von Jager and Dreher went to have a chat with Zurcher to try to invite Hess to dinner one night. All went well, Zurcher was a fairly amenable fellow but would not divulge any details about his superior. He even evaded a few of the more subtle interrogation techniques that Dreher attempted. He either knows very little about what's happening to the Deputy Fuhrer or he's one slippery customer. "The perfect valet" some have stated.

0900hrs, The Manor House Guest Quarters, Messerschmitt Factory & Test Facility, Augsburg, Germany.
Lt. Zurcher confirmed to Shikelgreube that Deputy Fuhrer Rudolf Hess has indeed accepted your offer of dinner at 2000hrs on the 5th (tomorrow), downstairs in the dining hall. It was generally decided that all had better have a damn good plan (rather than "winging it") in place to deal with this encounter.

In order to be fully prepared for the encounter it was decided that the team should contact DrittesAuge (Koalition occult specialist) and have him present. To this end Fleischer was to fly to Berlin that very afternoon (c/o Peters pulling some Luftwaffe strings) and collect DrittesAuge.

2030hrs, Airport, Berlin, Germany.
Fleicher arrived and met up with Peters' retinue; Lt. Jakob Seiler, Luftwaffe Logistics. No sign of DrittesAuge. Seiler did have a letter from DrittesAuge;

Dear Friend,

I am sorry that I cannot join you on holiday this year. I would dearly have loved to accompany you but I just cannot escape from work. Busy times I'm sure you'll understand.
I have enclosed your reading material, as requested, in it's native language. I do hope your French is up to scratch!

Be very careful and don't be tempted to climb the difficult routes. Stick to the less dangerous paths.

Deepest regards,

D.

Enclosed were several hand-written pages (in French) detailing how to make Ibn Ghazi dust and a copy of the Vorath's Reach ritual. Seiler was immediately tasked into translation duties.

Thursday 5th May, 1941.
0200hrs, The Manor House Guest Quarters, Messerschmitt Factory & Test Facility, Augsburg, Germany.
Fleischer returns from Berlin with Lt. Seiler.

Dreher went to reconnoitre the Gestapo office located near the Admin building. The back door was deadlocked and the front door was well lit by the lights from the front inner checkpoint. Too risky. Dreher retreated as a dog patrol drew near.

0220hrs, The Manor House Guest Quarters, Messerschmitt Factory & Test Facility, Augsburg, Germany.
Examination of the transcripts from DrittesAuge reveals some rather tricky to get hold of ingredients; 'Take ye dust of ye tomb - wherein ye body has lain for two hundred years or more past' to be more specific, plus other more easily obtainable herbal components.

Somewhere, this very night, a tomb shall be desecrated...
