I've played through the tutorial level and a bit of the 1st campaign level (Marines vs. Orcs - you play Marines).

The basic gameplay revolves around creating buildings / units with your resource points and capturing points on the map (Strategic / Critical / Special)

Strategic increase your Fog of War range and allow you to expand your building area - they also increase your resource collection rate (resources seem to tick up every few seconds or so at a rate relative to how many Strategic points you've captured)

Critical points are used for victory conditions (in one game-type anyway, I think there's other victory condition types available) - if you hold the majority of them, you then have to hold the majority for another 5 minutes and you when the game. Of course you could just destroy the enemy base, which is what I did Very Happy

Then there's special points, that allow you to build certain types of buildings on them to give you more power output, allow the creation of Librarians etc.

Combat is done by commanding squads instead of individual units, which is quite cool. You can research upgrades (Flamers, Sergeants, Melta Bombs etc.) and then apply them to each squad (all costs resource points). You have a cap limit on the number of squads you can have - ditto for vehicles.

It could possibly translate into the table-top game as well, which could be interesting - starting the player off with not many units and allowing them to build new ones over time.
