(Nick - Please note any mistakes/misunderstandings/typos!)

We were called together for a VR-conference (set in "Ancient China").
Our Contact (henceforth: Ms J) told us of the Mission:

Elysium Rangers had intel on a meeting between a Smuggler and Buyers on the edge of the Titan Quarantine Zone (TQZ, or "The Zone"). They sent in a Tactical Squad, but were late, possibly by 2-3 days. Evidence was recovered and stored.
Ms J's friends found that one of the recovered items (a Venturi Nozzle, used for heavy industry or large pipe-lines. Approx 23mm long, 12mm diam.) showed signs of being transformed by TITAN nano-processes.

We have been tasked with investigating how a smuggler got hold of it, why it was left behind, and STOPPING ANY TITAN ITEMS BEING BROUGHT OUT OF THE ZONE!

While we travelled to Olympus from our various locations, we set to work delving into what little info Ms J has given us:

Elysium Rangers: Did not have full info on who would be at the meeting, and so went in hard. Still delving into where they got their tip-off from.
Smuggler: Koomi Giganti. Known to the Authorities. Ventures into The Zone to salvage anything he can sell.
Buyers: Possibly Arsia Mons or Conduit Team.
Position of Smuggler's Hideout: EB15 (Bipo Barrens). Inside The Zone.

Orbital views of the meeting were obscured by dust storms (Meeting was probably deliberatley timed to coincide with the storms to thwart observation attempts).
Orbital views from before and after the storm show a small patch of ground 10km North of the meeting has altered properties. Speaking to some of my contacts, I gained access to higher-res images, showing it to be the result of controlled high-temperature effects, such as might be caused by super-thermite. A circle of glass remains where once was sand. We suspect that this was done to erase evidence, or destroy dangerous items, and have ruled out weapons-testing.

Additional Notes:
Found at scene of meeting: Component for Heavy Weapon. Components for Fabber. Spoiled Feed Stock for Fabber.
If TITAN-transformed Nozzle is introduced to a Fabber, it could easily infect the Fabber, with unknown effects, including, but not limited to; causing all subsequent Items to be infected, causing Fabber to act "with a mind of its own".

Please add your own investigation results and theories.

I didn't do much on the investigation side apart from confirm the tactics which the squad would have used.

OK, we have reached Olympus, and met our Contact.

Koomi Giganti: Currently being held by The Noctis Rangers, awaiting trial. He's got good rep with the Autonomists and they are sending him a decent Lawyer. We are attempting to get in with this Lawyer, to help further our investigations.

Out in the Sands: Its a couple of days ride to the Smuggler's Hideout, and we will be off the Mesh once we are outside Olympus. We could use sat-links, but they are unreliable (dust storms etc) and less secure.
We will need to watch out for Head Hunter bots and possibly War-Machines.

NB Smugglers hideout is 6 hours away( 70 klicks) and within Mesh range. It is not in hostile terretory and trouble is not expected. Ebb 15 is 3-4 days away (1100 Klicks) and is most definately not in Mesh Range'. Ebb 15 is located in the White Zone ( which has been subjected to Orbital Mass Driver Bombardment and is considered Hazardous.)

Elysium Rangers: We have learnt a little of the Captain who led the raid, and would like to contact her at some point. ((Did we get a name? I'll be running a basic background check, career history, etc.))
A 20-year veteran, she will be experienced and well trained.
She has had some sympathy for the Barsoomium Independence Movement ("The Movement"), but run into trouble with her superiors for this.
Hopefully the Nozzle (and any other items) are safe in their Evidence Locker for now.

Equipment: We have picked up a few EMP grenades, ensured we all have Vac Suits, and Mikhail has started adjusting helmets to help protect against Head Hunters.
Our two Rovers should cope with the Martian sands well enough, so long as we avoid the worst of the hazards.
Between us we have a few scout-bots (Gnats, Specks, Recon-Flyers etc), so can do some surveillance, hopefully unseen and from a distance. We also have a Guardian Nano-Swarm and nano-detectors to give us some defence against hostile nano-swarms.

Head out to Smuggler's Hideout. Stripped bare by Rangers.
Glassed Sands look to be the remains of 2 fabbers and a Desktop Cornucopia Machine, sprinkled with thermite charge. Done in a rushed manner.
Place is surrounded by a cloud of nanites that appear to be some kind of substrate material. Far too much - maybe the fabbers were massively overloaded, or there may have been other fabbers we have not seen.
Detonation was done remotely from a site that overlooks the glass. This site was fortified (in a minor way) showing that they had military-trained personnel.

We hear of a Quarantine Outbreak, which pulls in a lot of Rangers. The news is soon shut down, but we have now distributed the information to "interested parties" (Barsoomians, Scientists and Koomi's lawyer). Something pops up in the Barsoomian feed about "Splitters".

Taking advantage of the lack of Rangers, we head out to Ebb15. Setting up camp along the way, we are attacked by 3 Head Hunter bots. They are quickly dispatched, and hopefully we jammed their signals that would bring more.

While driving out to Ebb15, the lead Rover runs into mono-mesh trap.
It appears to be TITAN-tech, and is broadcasting signals, which we struggle to jam.
While fixing wheel, scout missile approaches. Distract with explorer-bot.
Drive on, to Ebb15.
Camp overnight.
Drive up to habitats. Find tracks that would fit with Koomi arriving, loading up lootz and leaving. Signs of a very old firefight.
Strange lack of certain materials.
Neat pile of clothing (bullet holes, bloodstains).
Cables and wires forming a mathematical formula/equation.
Many Cortical Stacks welded to floor in maths pattern. Probably from The Fall.
Central building: bodies of last-stand rusters from The Fall. Decapitated.
Elevator shaft. Forced open. Synth morph impaled on strange crystal-blades - less than 3 yrs old, probably one of Koomi's men. Looks like Koomi recovered the Cortical Stack.
Wander round lower levels. Find big machine, made with missing materials. Seems to be C19 tech, but with no visible power-source, or purpose.
Get attacked by bush-bots! Their nano-manipulators pick apart bullets as they get close, but HEAP rounds, set to explode just before contact, seem effective. This also damages The Big Machine, and bush-bots move to repair it.
We try to escape, but one bush-bot has constructed a wall across our path!

<Does anyone who took more notes/notice last session want to copy stuff up here?>

Run away from Bush-Bots.Tricky, and we used up some resources, but eventually made it back to Olympus Mons.
Lots of investigation.
Track down vehicle licence plate and look for it on Media Feeds. Notice it has been seen near an attack.
Track down Synth-Morph owner. Dropped off grid two years back.
Victim of attack is uplifted chimp. Head to Valley of the Apes to interview him. Learn about Barsoomian factions/fractions/fractures.

We fought our way out from the machine room to the surface. We were not equipped to deal with the bushbots. Tako shattered the diamond wall with one kick but took a hit from the bushbot in cover beyond the wall. Valentino, knowing his weapons were useless against the bot, used his rail guns to blast away its cover. Severin fired a couple of HEAP seeker rounds to drive the bushbot away.

After a quick discussion, Mikhail and Severin deactivate a mine by the crude but effective method using an EMP grenade.

Valentino took a spare agonizer and climbed the lift shaft, ending up in a fight with the damaged bushbot at the top. Tako helped Dak climb the shaft while under attack. The smart ropes were damaged and corrupted. Dak's clever plan to boost the power of his agonizer came to nothing when he dropped it in the skirmish. Tako finished the bot in hand to hand combat. Mikhail climbed out and Severin followed after forcing a second bushbot back into the machine room with more explosives.

We escaped from Ebb 15 with only minimal damage though some equipment is hopelessly corrupted and has to be abandoned.

Driving back was uneventful and once within the mesh the investigations began. (I can't remember who found out what).

Paint samples from the car at Ebb 15 (a red GoNow Paradise) also appear at the Smugglers' Hideout. Attempts to track down the car find it was seen in the vicinity of an assault three months ago. The victim was Perrin Mondelm an uplift chimp and a member of Mars First (Barsoomian independence group). He lives in Valles New Shanghai and agreed to meet us.

The synthmorph belonged to Pau Serda, last known address was Ebola Mansions, Olympus Mons (possibly got that wrong). A member of the hard line Red Devils (another Barsoomian independence group). Dropped off the mesh a couple of years previously. Red Devils are opponents of Mars First in the factional politics of the Barsoomian movement.

Dak starts organising re-supply and additional equipment using his contacts.

We parked at Olympus Mons and took the train to Valles New Shanghai. We met Perrin in a bar called The Cage in an area called the Valley of the Apes (complete with ruined Statue of Liberty outside). Perrin thinks the Red Devils are "too lucky" (may be hypercorp involvement) and unrealistic in their goals. The Red Devils used to be under the leadership of Moses Yani but has been deposed by the Lady. There is also mention of Dr Linda, a nanotech expert.

That is as best as I remember it. Let me know if there are any corrections you want me to make.

We headed back to Olympus Mons by train. Dak and Valentino made use of their contacts and the information given to us by Perrin to track the Red Devils cell to New Las Vegas. New Las Vegas was formerly a refuelling depot and is now dodgy casino run by a biker gang called the Sons of Deimos.

Dak uses his autonomist contacts to arrange a meeting with Jack Orange, a transient passing through New Vegas. Valentino got in touch with the spokesman of the Sons of Deimos, P R Dude. He found that the car (the GoNow Paradise) was there, that it was owned by Kantel. Kantel was there with his boss, an engineer, a kid (Pau Serda?), an engineer and a couple of other guys (one being Emmet?). P R Dude did not think much of Kantel and company; the Sons of Deimos were quite happy if we dealt with them, as long as it was away from the casino and no explosives or automatic gunfire was involved.

Kantel's bio had been whitewashed. Jack Orange was a fabber tech based in Noctis. Had some altercation with Emmet.

We resupplied with Dak's contacts and drove out to New Las Vegas.

Dak and Tako met up with Orange in a quite part of the bar at New Vegas. In conversation they find out the Kantel had lost his fabber tech and that Orange wanted the job. He was turned down. In an effort to get more information Tako mind probed Orange while Dak tried to block Orange's muse from raising the alarm. From Jack Orange we found out that the secondary outbreak involved unknown nano-systems and lead to 54 perma-deaths. That several cornucopia machines are missing and that Jack Orange is investigating as part of the Noctis rangers. While this happened an intrusion attempt was made on our tacnet. Probably a ranger team in the area.

Severin broke into the GoNow Paradise. Found a bushbot in stasis and a supply of nano-infested nozzles. Superthermite took care of those problems. Tako captured the mechanic and dragged him off to our vehicles. Valentino killed the combat synth with concentrated railgun fire. The kid ineptly fired off a thermobaric seeker before being shot in the back by Severin leavning the car.

We start with the news feeds covering the Red Devils' terrorist activities. Reported as "Evil Autonomists Kill Babies". Will have to talk to my Media contacts, see what can be done.

We notice some remnant nanotech signature in our rover. It's probably substrate from the GoNow Paradise, and appears to be on the captured Mech and on Severin.
The Mech appears to be quite ill, and Mikhail cannot figure out why. Dak tries to hack his Muse, to get more info, but fails. He does learn that the Mech's "muse" is probably a fork of the Mech.

Dak talks to Agent Orange. Mainly a cease-fire/common foe agreement (although that is probably too strong a word for it). We send him an info-dump, to help him, and strengthen our case as "Barsoomians trying to clean up our own mess." We label the Red Devils as Extremists, not approved by The Movement, and we're trying to stop them.

Dak and Valentino call in Firewall favours.
The hacker they put us in touch with quickly gains access to the Eyrie and says he can set up a meeting between us (posing as Red Devils) and a Core Group. Our plan is then to "Eradicate with Prejudice".

Tako makes some "interesting" discoveries about the substrate forms (well, its quite pretty).

Pick up Armament Cache from Firewall.

After topping up our weaponry (mainly extra ammo), we make the call to Red Devils and get a meeting arranged.

We trundle off to the appointed place, way outside civilisation, and find that instead of a deserted meet-up, chat and leave, they have a fortified area, with defences.
We approach, and are greeted, but we have forgotten to check up on the pass-phrase! Dak tries to bluff it, but fails.
Luckily, we react faster then them, and the welcoming committee (2 guards, 1 mech with case of "nozzles") are soon dispatched. Valentino and Severin rush to clear out the pill-boxes, but someone gets away.
There is a tunnel in the side of the canyon leading to a sealed area. We leave this for the moment and concentrate on the large doors blocking the tunnel. Cutting a hole, we see several vehicles and a few dozen people - combined Red Devils and Sufis. After our initial attempts at armed conflict seem to do more harm than good, we send in a gnat-bot as surveillance, and try to convince the sufi that the Red Devils have betrayed them, and are the real enemy ...
