Pretty much as I thought, and said, last night. Reading the PETA link it say's in it that they kill the animals they cannot rehome. How hard they try to rehome them, and how much they spend is a different issue. I might not agree with PETA (about basically, anything....) but this website is reporting the statistics and using the language to portray PETA in the worst possible light with almost no balance whatsoever. [*]

An example form that page:

Since 1998, PETA has opted to “put down” 23,640 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens instead of finding homes for them.

shows that the animal rights group killed 97 percent of the dogs and cats in its care last year. During all of 2009, PETA found adoptive homes for just eight pets.

They contrast this against...
The Virginia Beach SPCA, just down the road from PETA’s Norfolk headquarters, manages to adopt out the vast majority of the animals in its care.

without giving any figures for the other group at all. What is the 'vast majority' in this case? In numbers? As a percentage? We don't know, so we can't contrast it properly. We just have to take their word for it that they do a better job.

I'm not saying that they are wrong, just that they obviously have a fairly large axe to grind.

For added laughs read the About Us page:

In addition to malicious animal-rights activists, we stand up to the "food police," environmental scaremongers, neo-prohibitionists, meddling bureaucrats, and other self-anointed saints who claim to "know what's best" for you.

Good to keep yourself busy, eh? Confused Wink

[*] - Which is the exact tactic PETA use.... oh the irony.... Very Happy

(Edited 'cos my spelling is shocking!)
