Came across this outline for a game which is investigation/horror.

Thought I'd share Smile

Looks nice but I'm unsure about the Creep dice. That looks loaded with gamebreaking potential.

I think it would be subject to GM approval therefore rule 7 applies

True, but imagine if someone said "If one of the player likes your roleplay, they can give you an extra dice to use in combat". I'd prefer it if the Creep dice cost you a fate point to use, so then it's still useful, but you're setting your own death trap.

Most of the time a single extra dice, useable once only, will have negligible impact on the game. Obviously there's got to be some common sense oversight otherwise people will give out extra dice at the drop of a hat - but as long as you're in a group that's capable of using the rule as it's intended rather than abusing it, I can't see that it's a game breaker. Mind you, I don't really see this particular game appealing to the kind of people who would abuse the creep dice award.

Having looked closely I can see you can do the fate point for a d10 roll anyway, so that's not so bad as it's basically an extra Fate for good RP.

Not sure on what to determine for the Threat though. (Usual 6? (How, When, Where, What, Who, Why?)) and there could be some cross-time problems.

I.E. Say Dan's Moment from the End failed and he got struck down by the threat, could Mark's Happier Days prevent this by bringing in Dan's twin brother?

It's even alluded to in the description

Quote:
The difficulty number is 10 but Dan has a +3 bonus to swimming plus he uses his Creep dice, rolling 2d10. He rolls 15 which with his bonus brings his total to 18. He generates 8 points of information about the threat, plus the 20 information bonus for this time frame. With a total of 30 points

So...8+20=30? And the fragments cost 15 each?
Quote:
Dan has lost another fate point

Why?
Quote:
from later on, earlier : Finally Dan says he is wearing swimming trunks, showing what a keen swimmer he is and gets a +4 bonus to any future swimming checks.

So...that's a +1 to a roll that's already been made, or is it +7 total, or....

I think there needs to be a very robust system in place first or there's going to be a lot of disappointed people halfway through.

Also, something on the remaining Fate Points would be nice.

I.E.
It ends now: <0
You and I are one now: 0 (Silence of the Lambs, I am Legend)
BUT IT HAPPENED! I SAW IT!: 1 (Any Cthulu survivor)
He's dead, isn't he?: 2 (Scream, Carrie)
Time for your medication, Mr Smith: 4 (American Werewolf (Nurse), Titanic)
Walking into the Light: 6 (Ringu, IJ:ROTLA)
We stopped it. Forever: 8 (Hellraiser, Jaws)
