Post subject: Whatever the question, the answer is.....
Aegis of Invincible Might
Cost: —; Mins: Resistance 5, Essence 5; Type: Permanent
Keywords: Dual, Perilous
Prerequisite Charms: Adamant Skin Technique
When her life is threatened, the Solar channels her fury to make herself nigh invulnerable. After
using Adamant Skin Technique, the Solar’s hardness is raised to 20, and her withering soak is
raised by her (Stamina + Resistance), while also cancelling (Stamina) post soak damage. This
massive increase in toughness is based on a surge of Essence through the Solar’s body. In order
to maintain it, the Solar must either unleash a decisive attack each round on her turn, or pay 8+
motes on offensive Charms. This effect ends if the Solar is crashed or fails to take continuous

Sui's general routine is split between training his students, practising and improving his own skills, and learning The Ways Of The Sun.
What little time he has left after this is often spent at the Plaza Market, where he preaches to anyone who will listen. A couple of students will usually accompany him (either as punishment or reward).
Since learning of his Solar Brothers, he has shifted his training regime to focus more on his senses and reflexes. His more promising students have been tasked with launching surprise attacks upon him, and Sui stalks the Temple, hunting them.
Sui's religious learning is either taken seated with the other students, listening to Wei Liold's lectures, or spent in private with Wei, discussing the deeper meaning of his teachings.

has been High Priest since before Sui joined the Temple, and has served loyally throughout all of this time.
Since moving to Soba, Wei has endeavoured to teach both Sui and his Students the principles that Red Lotus was founded upon, and also instil the Heretical Teachings of The Cult Of The Sun. Sui regularly meets with Wei to discuss theology, but usually leaves more confused than when he entered!
Wei knows that Sui has a great Destiny ahead of him, and works to nurture his spirit, such that Sui will be prepared for the endeavours he will surely face.

Sui only met The
once, but he left a lingering impression. Or more precisely, left suspiciously little impression. A man of medium build, with a forgettable face, he seemed to fade into the background, even when Sui was talking directly to him. His form seemed to slip away, the more one focussed on it, like the silver
that infest the irrigation ditches, that become more slippery the tighter one grasps them.
insists that he is part of The Solar Circle, and Sui's High Priest confirms that SOL always brings The Five Elements of His Glory together. Is it right, then, that Sui feels such mistrust towards his Brother? Do not the Zenith and the Night complement each other?
Much meditation will be needed, and The Tall Man must prove his worth before Sui shall accept him fully.

Since settling in Soba, Sui has had several occasions to speak to
The City Watch
. Usually, they are warning him about regulations regarding Preaching in the markets. Something about crowd-control, fees, permits, the usual irrelevancies. They say their piece, take their coins, and move on. But one watchman seems to have more about him. Not content with taking the permit-fees, he asks after the nature of his preachings, and even stays to listen. Sui has sought him out and they have talked a while. It seems this foreign Watchman cares more about Soba, and its people, than most others, and is inclined to act upon his cares. He seems a good man, someone to nurture. Little did Sui know that
was a Fellow Exalt, a Son of The Dawn!

The Harrying of The North
Master Of All Arts
turned away from the window in disgust.
"Do you think I haven't heard you plotting? You think you can defeat me? You think there is somewhere I could not find you? Do you forget that our hearts beat as one?" The rhetorical questions were directed at the
curled by the fireside. "Do you not see the corruption amongst our students? Do you not see how lazy and foolish they are?"
"Not all can have your Perfect Exaltation, dear." It replied, scornfully. "They learn as well as they can. What you take for laziness and corruption is the natural state for Mortals, as well you know. And though our hearts have beaten as one for as long as I remember, you have never beaten me yet."
"You dare to challenge me? Do you not recall the devastation wrought by the last one to attempt to usurp me?"
"Calm down, dear. I know your work is hard, and nears completion, but do not let it cloud your mind to all other pursuits. You should relax. Come lie by the fire a while?" The Luna shimmered and took on human appearance. Clad in loose silks, the lithe, sleek muscles still betrayed its panther-like form.
"Do Not Tempt Me!" The Master of All Arts grabbed a pile of books and scrolls from his desk, and stormed out of the room. The Human/Panther stretched, and slipped back into its Relaxing By the Fireside Stance, passing this off as another of The Master's 'episodes'.
The Assembly Bell rang through the Illustrious Halls, and student and Master alike made haste to the Great Hall. It would not do to keep the Master of All Arts waiting.
Once all were in attendance, The Master rose from his throne, gathered the tomes and scrolls that represented his Great Work,
The Final Art
, and walked in silence towards the hearth that lit and warmed the Hall. Pausing only to glance up at the panther crouched on the balcony, he tipped his Most Precious Treasures into the fire. A gasp ran around the room.
"AND THAT IS WHY YOU ARE WEAK!" he bellowed "Have I not taught you Silence? To be fearless in the face of the unexpected? Did I not put Serenity at the forefront of your lessons?"
The room fell back into silence, abashed and stunned. Even the Masters threw each other sidelong glances, wondering what would come next.
"Have I not laboured long and hard at this Work? Have I not taught you the very nature of Creation? And how do you repay me? Why do you bring your petty squabbles? Why do you interrupt my work with your lowly concerns? Why must you constantly bother me with your miserable lives? NO MORE!"
A fist flickered at the nearest student, killing him cleanly as he stood. A foot took another, and The Master of All Arts began to Cleanse the room of Sin and Ill-Virtue. As the flames consumed the pages of his Greatest Collections of Wisdom, so he consumed the vice and villainy from the Temple. None could stand against The master of All Arts, and before long, none stood at all.
"Was that really necessary, dear?" purred the panther.
"Would you rather see my Works fall into the hands of Evil? Would you stand by and watch it used to destroy, rather than build?"
"I just did"
The Master of All Arts tensed his muscles, ready to turn his Righteous Fury against his Beloved, but a breeze caught his cheek. The servants' door was open. Someone had escaped!
"I shall deal with you later,
Turning on his heel, The Master of All Arts strode out of the hall, out of the Temple, and out into the City. Someone had escaped. Had taken the knowledge of The Final Art out of the Temple. They must be found!
It took many years for The Master of All Arts to track down the Traitor. Disguising himself as a lowly Master of One Art, he moved from town to town, city to city, seeking any whose Arts seemed unchallengeable. And with matchless skill, he would unleash his
Unrivalled Solar Form
upon them, knowing that only one who had learned his secret
Glorious Unparalleled Defence
would be able to survive such an attack.
After killing most of the Arts Masters of the North, and a great many of their students, he finally tracked down the Traitor, who stood firm in the face of The Master Of All Arts' attacks. Try as he might, The Master could not pierce the defences he had taught. Looking around for an advantage, he saw a shadow in the hedgerow, and too late recognised the lithe, supple movements it made. The panther leapt from where it had been observing, and with a quiet whisper of "You have failed Creation", tore past his parries, and ripped out the Heart that beat in the same rhythm as its own.
Falling to its knees and holding the heart up to The Silver Mistress, seeing the great scar than ran through Creation, and the irrevocable hole in the nature of The Arts, tears fell down its face, glinting gold in the mid-day sun.
TL;DR - Tired of his Students not being as Excellent and Perfect as Himself, he killed them all, and destroyed his work on the Final Art. One student escaped, and in an attempt to find the Traitor, many, many Art Masters were killed. When he did find the Traitor, he could not defeat him, and then his Betrothed Lunar killed him for his crimes. But this still left a near-irreparable hole in the state of Martial Arts, and The Final Form would never be found.

Sui's father was a drunken gambler, who dragged his family through one shame after another. Sui was forced to work from a young age to help cover his debts, and put food on the table.
Eventually, his father left home, following a caravan on some get-rich-quick scheme. This was the last that was seen of him.
Sui, along with his Mother and siblings, had a hard life, with the stigma of an absent father and the effort to bring in enough money.
After yet another beating from local bullies, Sui applied to join the
Red Lotus Temple
, a Martial Arts school.
Soon Sui realised that this place was almost as bad as home: the masters were strict, and seemed to revel in doling out cruel punishments for the slightest of transgressions, the other students were unfriendly, the food was poor (although there always was food!), and the beds, when one was allowed to sleep, were hard and uncomfortable.
For several years, Sui endured these hardships, set upon learning the Ways of The Tiger, both to take his mind off his suffering, and to ensure no-one could increase it. He learned Temperance and Integrity, along with martial skills, and worked every job available, sending what little money he could back to his family.
There came a day when The Red Lotus Temple was challenged by the legendary
school, who were wiping out all other schools in the area. Unwilling to face the fearsome foes, Red Lotus sent Sui to represent them, knowing he would be defeated, but giving the rest of the school time to escape.
While Sui did not have the skill to defeat the Eagle Claw students, his long years of hardship had given him the resilience to take more punishment than anyone thought possible. Given several chances to surrender with honour, he continued to fight, until eventually the Red Lotus students and Masters, impressed by his loyalty, attacked the Eagle Claw, and drove them off.
Sui was promoted to Master, and given more respect from then on.
Sui taught as he had been taught - strict, with many seemingly-pointless tasks and punishments, all designed to raise the students' resistance and stamina. He worked with the other Masters to perfect his understanding of the Tiger Style, using only his bare hands to cause grievous wounds, and strike pressure points, and before long was one of the most respected Masters in the area.
Of course, it was about now that disaster would befall him ...
spread slowly through the town, afflicting rich and poor alike. Old and young, man and woman, strong and weak, none seemed immune to its effects. By the time people realised its danger, it was too late to stop it's deadly progress.
Isolated in the Red Lotus Temple, Sui and his students knew they had only one choice. With heavy hearts, they barricaded the Temple doors and shut out the sick and needy. They watched the townsfolk stagger in search of relief, and listened to their cries for succour. But Sui allowed none to enter the Temple. Three long weeks later, the town was silent. The Crimson Plague had done its work, and moved on. It was only now that Sui ordered the Temple doors opened.
As the Red Lotus students moved amongst the town, clearing the bodies that had fallen in the streets, an Imperial force approached. They had heard of the Plague, and come to investigate. Seeing only (non-Immaculate) monks, they assumed the worst, and demanded to know the "Truth", not the "Lies" that they heard Sui tell. They were not interested in his explanations, his sorrow, his regret. Sui had left the town to die, and must hang for his "crime"...
There are no tales of how that day ended. The Imperial force never made its report, the Red Lotus do not talk of it, and there were no other witnesses.
It was on this day that
made himself known to Sui. Appearing as a large white Tiger, he professes to be a Celestial Immortal, and helped Sui to escape with his life. No-one else knows of this mysterious creature, and he talks little of himself, preferring to lecture Sui on the finer points of how to run a Temple/School.
This was also the day that SOL spoke to Sui. Exhausted and confused by the morning's events, still struggling to come to terms with The Crimson Plague, Imperial Warrants and a visit from a Celestial immortal, he lay staring into the sky, hoping for some explanation, something to bring Order back into his life.
And that was when he heard
The Voice of SOL
The younger students ask of the History of the Temple, and why it moved to Soba. They ask why Sui talks not of his past. Did he have a family, a wife? What is it he has lost? And why must we learn in secrecy? Are we not Red Lotus? Why must we not name ourselves such? The Masters reward them with more work, and painful tasks. The older students occasionally let slip a rumour about The Crimson Plague, and the Fateful Events of that time. But none will answer in full.
And so, it is as head of
The Crashing Fountain Martial Arts Academy
that Sui leads his Children Of The Light Of The Sun, passing on what little he can about The Glorious Light Of The Sun, and how one day it will be revealed for all to see. But for now, they must wait.
